Notes:
83 of 84 total forms turned in on Friday. Kudos to 1st period!
Thank you parents for your generosity in regards to classroom supplies. The Kleenexes, soap, and antibacterial wipes have been rolling in the last two days. Thanks!
Science:
Monday will be all about lab safety. Students will get the science safety study guide for Tuesday's safety quiz.
Tuesday we will begin by taking the safety quiz. Students must receive at least an 80% to be eligible to work in labs. Look for the safety contract to come home. THIS MUST BE SIGNED AND RETURNED BY FRIDAY. Students will also be taking the scientific method pre-test. This is not for a grade, but rather to help me gauge how much they remember from prior years about the scientific method for planning purposes.
Wednesday students will participate in an in-class activity for the steps of the scientific method. We will then work on a handout together as students will be learning about testable questions.
Thursday students will partake in another activity. This one will focus on scientific research -- the second step of the scientific method. We will be discussing the importance of reliable sources. Students will receive a handout on the steps of the scientific method for homework.
Friday will grade Thursday's homework and then take a short scientific method quiz, before closing the week with the scientific method brainpop.
Social Studies:
Monday we will grade Friday's assignment -- Getting to Know Your Textbook. Following, we will discuss chapter 3 section 1. Section 1 handout for homework!
Tuesday students will participate in a jigsaw note taking activity to collect notes on section 2.
Wednesday we will finish the jigsaw activity before doing the section 2 handout in class.
Thursday we will listen to audio on section 3 and discuss. Section 3 handout for homework!
Friday we will close the week by watching a National Geographic video titled, "Nightmare in Jamestown".
