Week 33

Science:

Monday we will discuss the answer to the plate tectonic video handout. We will spend the rest of the class period discussing lesson 2 - seafloor spreading.

Tuesday it's all about plate tectonics. We will look at lesson 2 and students will complete a handout in which they will be labeling the different plates. We will also watch several animations on the different type of plate movements.

Wednesday students will complete several review questions for chapter 3 before beginning lesson 1 of chapter 4 - forces in the earth's crust.

Thursday we will read an article together describing how the forces within the earth's crust creates earthquakes and we will review the different fault types.

Friday it's all about seismic waves. Students will be learning the difference between P-Waves and S-Waves and partaking in the Slinky Lab to help them with their understanding.

Social Studies:

Monday students will complete an in class review assignment over chapter 16 section 1. Following, we will be learning about life as a soldier in the civil war -- what soldiers ate and drank, did for entertainment, what a typical day looked like, etc.

Tuesday students will watch a brief video on the life of a civil war soldier and then we will discuss odd and interesting medical facts of the battlefield. Students will also complete the lesson 2 review handout.

Wednesday students will be learning about the early successes and failures for both the Confederacy and the Union in the Civil War.

Thursday we will spend most of the class period review for the chapter 16 test.

Friday is test day!
