Week 20

Science:

Tuesday students will be presenting their Famous Astronomer PowerPoints to the class

Wednesday we will be discussing chapter 3 lesson 2 and completing the text questions together. Students will receive the Solar System on a Map handout -- homework if not completed in class.

Thursday we will be outside so students need to bring a jacket. Working in groups, students will create a scaled down diagram of the solar system with sidewalk chalk, and we will be discussing planetary spacing.

Friday students will be assigned a planet and will begin their Adopt-A-Planet project.

Social Studies:

Tuesday we will begin chapter 9 be discussing George Washington's first term as President.

Wednesday students will receive their graded constitution tests and we will discuss. For the remainder of the class period students will be partaking in a leadership activity with whiteboards.

Thursday students will examine journal entries by William Mclay, a U.S. Senator during George Washington's first term, and we will be discussing some of the first instances of check and balance under the Constitution.

Friday we will be discussing chapter 9 lesson 2 and students will watch a brief Brainpop on George Washington.
