Science:
Monday we will be discussing the different types of telescopes astronomers use and the benefits of each. Students will receive the chapter 4 lesson 2 text questions for homework.
Tuesday students will be learning about the scale of the universe and how scientists use different units of measurements to describe distances because of the enormous distances in space. Students will work on a review handout in class for lessons 1 and 2.
Wednesday we will be discussing star brightness. Students will be learning the difference between apparent brightness and absolute brightness and working on a handout in class on the topic.
Thursday discussion will be focused on the HR Diagram. Students will create their own HR Diagram from data.
Friday there will be a short quiz on the HR diagram prior to discussing the life cycle of stars.
Social Studies:
Monday students will be involved in a jigsaw activity for chapter 10 section 3. Students will receive the section 3 handout for homework. The unit 6 test study guide will also be distributed on Monday.
Tuesday will be a review day for the unit 6 test. Students will receive the chapters 9/10 review handout for homework.
Wednesday is test day!
Thursday we will begin our discussion of the American Industrial Revolution. Students will learn about the life of the Lowell Mill girls
Friday students will receive their graded unit 6 tests and we will discuss any commonly missed questions. We will spend the remainder of the period discussing the many inventions of the Industrial Revolution and how they shaped American life.
