Week 35

Science:

Monday students will finish their plotting of world earthquakes from the USGS website.

Tuesday students will partake in the Mercalli Earthquake Scale activity.

Wednesday is the talent show and All-City track meet.  Classes are short and I will be out for most of the day.  Students will watch the Bill Nye the Science Guy episode on earthquakes.

Thursday is test day!

Friday we will begin our study of volcanoes by completing the chapter 5 lesson 1 text questions together.

Social Studies:

Monday we will be discussing chapter 17 section 1.  Students will be learning about President Abraham Lincoln's emancipation proclamation.

Tuesday students will watch a History Channel special, "10 Days that Unexpectedly Changed America - Battle of Antietam."

Wednesday Wednesday is the talent show and All-City track meet.  Classes are short and I will be out for most of the day. Students will be reading this month's edition of Junior Scholastic and answering questions.

Thursday students will learn about the social, economic, and political changes that resulted from the civil war.  Students will complete the chapter 17 section 2 handout for homework.

Friday we will wrap up our Civil War discussion by discussing the series of northern battles that led to the their defeat of the Confederacy.
