Week 6:

Science:

Monday the chapter 1 lesson 2 test questions are due. We are going to discuss the difference between elements, compounds, and mixtures. Students will receive handout on the subject that we will complete in class.

Tuesday students will spend the first half of the period in lab. Students will be analyzing the characteristics of mixtures. Students will receive the chapter 1 lesson 2 review and reinforce handout. If not completed in class, it will be homework.

Wednesday students will have a short quiz over lessons 1 and 2. The lesson 2 review and reinforce will be due and students will receive the lesson 3 text questions for homework.

Thursday we will discuss the lesson 3 text questions. Following, students will be reviewing how to use scientific measurement tools like a triple beam balance, graduated cylinder, beaker, meter stick, and thermometer. We will finish the class period by discussing metric conversions and practicing a few together. Students will have a metric conversions handout for homework.

Friday we will be watching a short film discussing how chemistry is used by forensic detectives to solve crimes.

Social Studies:

Monday students will receive the Salem Witch Trials primary documents and analysis sheet. They will be working in groups to answer the analysis questions A-E.

Tuesday students will continue their analysis of the Salem Witch Trials primary documents and answer questions F-I.

Wednesday students will create an outline for their essay answering the question, "What Caused the Salem Witch Trial Hysteria of 1692?" After their outline is approved they are to begin their essay. If not completed in class, the essay is homework.

Thursday students will peer edit each others rough drafts and begin their final drafts. Final drafts are due Monday!

Friday students will be watching a film on the Salem Witch Trials.
